Is Iran Next?

Washington DC– On Tuesday September 7^th at 1:30 pm. Dr. Ahura Yazdi and a broad cross-section of the Iranian community will gather at the National Press Club to ask the question that millions in America, Iran, and the Middle East need to know. What is the plan of the President of the United States to help the people of Iran, and in essence the people of America and the world in whole, to free themselves from the threats of the terrorist régime currently in power in Iran? 

Iran’s tyrannical-theocratic regime has waged a war of terror for over twenty years on the United States, the civilized world, and the people of Iran.  If there is to be an honest discussion on the future direction of the US led global war on terror, then President George W. Bush and Presidential candidate John Kerry must address their plans for dealing with the threat that Iran poses to the cause of freedom.

The Iran Threat:

Support for International Terrorism-

The current Iranian régime has and continues to provided support and assistance to terrorist organizations around the world including Hezbollah, Hamas, and Al-Qaeda.  In addition, they continue to provide assistance to those groups attempting to destabilize both Afghanistan and Iraq. These same groups are behind most of the attacks on our brave American service men and women. 

                 Development of Weapons of Mass Destruction and Ballistic Missiles Technology-

Iranian officials continue to play a cat and mouse game with the IAEA inspectors in order to hide the true nature of Iran’s nuclear ambitions to develop and deploy nuclear weapons. This in addition to  ongoing chemical and biological weapons research represents a threat to the vital interest of the United States and to all the civilized world particularly as Iran continues to develop and deploy longer range ballistic missiles which will be capable of carrying WMD payloads outside of the region.

                 A Threat to Regional Stability-

Through the above stated actions and in addition to the régimes ongoing efforts to spread its own Islamist revolutionary ideology and its development of its military capabilities, Iran is the greatest threat to efforts to achieve stability and freedom within the region of the world that must be stabilized to win the global war on terror. Additionally, the threat that Iran poses towards the vital interests of the civilized world will only grow if it is not confronted.

                     Oppression of Women-

The world well knows the crimes that the Taliban regime inflicted upon the women of Afghanistan, however the plight of woman in Iran is not well recognized. If the women of Iran were treated as second-class citizens that would be an improvement. From officially sanctioned rape to the treatment of women as property, the government of Iran is responsible for some of the worst conditions women face in the world.

Gross and Continuing Violations of Individual Dignity and Human Rights -

Individuals in Iran are prisoners in body mind and spirit to the whims and dictates of the ruling mullahs. All basic freedom which every civilized nation accepts as the base for  human rights are denied or curtailed in some way by those controlling the government. Ideas that the United States has fought countless battles to win and defend which the people of Iran seek for themselves are denied by the mullah leaving the people of Iran in desperate circumstances.

             Perverting the principles of Islam-

The ideology of the Iranian régime is a heretical and perverted expression of true Islamic values. Iran is seeking to impose this perversion upon the world, and that is part of the reason that the Iranian régime is working so hard to covertly take over the institutions within Iraq and destroy the future of freedom within the greater Middle East.

What will those seeking to lead the US  global war on terrorism as the President of the United States plan to do to address the referenced issues is what all Americans, Iranians, and all those who truly seek freedom around the world need to know!
